19-Year-Old Woman Killed, 2 Critically Injured In Whittier Crash
WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday said a 19-year-old woman was killed and two others were critically injured when their vehicle struck a fire hydrant and tree in Whittier.
Whittier Police Department Lt. Aaron Ruiz told City News Service that the crash in the 12200 block of Beverly Boulevard happened around 1:05 a.m.
According to authorities, the victims were traveling in a blue 1998 Chevrolet that was headed westbound on Beverly Boulevard when the driver lost control. The vehicle then sheared a fire hydrant before hitting a large pine tree.
The deceased and a 21-year-old woman were ejected from the car. They along with the 25-year-old male driver were taken to area hospitals where the 19-year-old died.
The two other victims were listed in critical condition, police said.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
