TWENTYNINE PALMS (CBSLA.com) — Deputies warned the public Wednesday of a man accused of assaulting a female victim and attempting to rape her.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Lynel Serek Roduk, 29, was identified in the investigation of an assault that he allegedly committed in the 7000 block of Estrella Avenue.

Deputies said Roduk approached a female victim at knifepoint Aug. 16 in the front yard of her friend's home.

Roduk then forced her to walk away from the residence and said, "if she screamed he would stab her," according to officials.

Once they were about a block away from the area, authorities said, he forced the victim to the ground and attempted to rape her while holding the knife to her throat.

Deputies said the victim was able to kick Roduk in the face and run away when her friend came looking for her. He then fled the area on foot and was not located by authorities.

Roduk is a transient in the Morongo Basin and has no known ties to the area, authorities said.

Deputies warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous if seen. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Anyone with information regarding Roduk's whereabouts is urged to contact the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station at (760) 366-4175.
