Suspect In 'Suge' Knight Shooting Still On The Loose

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are still searching for a suspect who shot three people, including rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight, early Sunday morning during pre-MTV Video Music Awards party at the exclusive 1OAK nightclub on West Sunset Boulevard.

Video clips on social media showed the scene in the club before the gunfire erupted at the party hosted by singer Chris Brown, as well as the chaos that occurred afterward.

"Before I knew it everyone ran," said Hayley Belle, a nightclub patron.  "People were pushing. Most people on the floor.... Running. Falling on glass. Glass smashing."

Investigators told CBS2's Joy Benedict that more than seven shots were fired in the club, with five of them hitting 49-year-old Knight, who was still able to stumble out of the club on his own before being rushed to a hospital. Also struck once each were a 33-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman.

All three victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are expected to survive, authorities said.

West Sunset Boulevard was closed much of Sunday as investigators searched for a weapon. With so many videos and pictures being posted on social media, investigators are hoping someone comes forward with key information about the shooter.

"At this point we don't have any suspects. and that's why we are encouraging the public to come forward," said Nicole Nishinda of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives said although it was Brown's party, they don't believe he had anything to do with the incident. Early Sunday morning, Brown said via Twitter (@ChrisBrown), "It's disappointing that we as society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the [expletive]."
