Summer Storms Bring Rain, Hail And Lightning To Inland Empire

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Thunderstorms with flooding rains, hail and lightning made for a wild day of weather in the Inland Empire on Wednesday.

In San Bernardino, lightning struck a few feet away from a home and knocked out power on a street, according to CBS2's Inland Empire reporter Crystal Cruz. Meanwhile, another lightning bolt hit a palm tree, starting a fire.

There was major street  flooding in Bloomington that led to water getting into garages of some homes, requiring the help of the fire department.

It hailed in Riverside, where homeowner Perri Perry saved some of the ice in a cup to show her husband.

There was also heavy rain in Fontana and street flooding in Rancho Cucamonga.

The storms left more than 2,500 Southern California Edison customers in Riverside County without power much of the day.
