Tecolote Fire 40 Percent Contained

AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — A fire burning in the Angeles National Forest Monday was 40 percent contained, officials said.

The Tecolote Fire was sparked around 2:30 p.m. Sunday and has scorched more than 275 acres near San Gabriel Canyon and East Fork roads, north of Azusa, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

No buildings were in danger.

The fire forced the evacuation of campers and hikers as the flames swept quickly across the canyon.

More than 200 firefighters, four helicopters and six tanker planes were on the scene.

No injuries have been reported.
