Arcadia Residents Jump From Roof To Escape Alleged Home Invasion Robbers

ARCADIA (CBSLA.com) — A family of three jumped from the roof of a two-story home in Arcadia to escape three alleged home invasion robbers, it was reported Saturday.

Police were called to the home in the 600 block of West Lemon Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. to investigate screams for help, Arcadia police said in a written statement.

Upon arriving on scene, officers were told by three residents that three suspects had allegedly entered their home through an unlocked rear window.

Upon entry, one of the suspects allegedly forced the residents at gunpoint to lie face down in an upstairs bedroom.

"When the suspect was not watching, the victims got up, raced to the window, pushed out the screen, and jumped onto the roof," police said in the statement.

Shortly thereafter, the victims jumped from the roof to the front yard where they were screaming for help, police said. Two of the victims sustained injuries in the jump -- one of the victims might have broken a leg. The victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police said two of the suspects were described as Black males. One was wearing a red hoodie while the other was wearing a black hoodie.

KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo reported there have been several home invasion robberies in the immediate area. Police are trying to determine if the cases are related.

Garden Grove Police believe there are enough similarities in a recent home invasion there to warrant further examination.

"We are aware that there are a series of these that  are occurring," said Sgt. Dan Crowther of Arcadia Police, "we're not yet sure if ours is related to that or not. It's something our detectives will follow up on."

Anyone with information about this case was asked to call the Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5150. Tips may also be submitted via text, phone, or web to LA Regional Crime Stoppers, (800) 222-TIPS.
