Girl Pulled From Hollywood Motel Pool Declared Dead

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A 12-year-old girl Tuesday was declared dead as a result of a swimming accident that occurred in a motel pool last week, police said.

According to the coroner's office, the girl has been identified as Gemesis Rosales.

Emergency responders were dispatched Aug. 4 to the Hollywood Premiere Motel in the 5000 block of Hollywood Boulevard after a mother struggled while she attempted to save her two children from drowning in the pool.

Officials said that Rosales, her 36-year-old mother and 11-year-old brother were taken to hospitals in critical condition.

According to authorities, the boy later started breathing on his own and was said to have stable vital signs Tuesday.

The mother, however, is in serious condition.
