WILLOBROOK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding an overnight deputy-involved shooting.
The incident unfolded on 118th and Main streets about 3:46 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The statement said deputies responded to the location following a report of a narcotics sale.
“Deputies also learned that the man was possibly armed,” Deputy Navarro-Suarez told KNX 1070.
When they arrived on scene, they made contact with the suspect, described as a Hispanic male adult, who allegedly produced a firearm.
The statement said a deputy then opened fire, striking the suspect once.
The man was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition. No deputies were hurt.
The incident was being investigated, authorities said.
