16 Hurt In Passenger Van Crash On 101 Freeway In Thousand Oaks

THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA.com) — As many as 16 people were hurt Thursday after a passenger van collided with a semi-trailer truck on the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks, authorities said.

The crash was reported around 2 p.m. near Lynn Road on the northbound side of the 101 Freeway, according to Ventura County Fire officials.

A number of first responders were on the scene, including 6 ambulances, two fire engines, and a paramedic squad, authorities said.

At least 11 people were sent to a hospital for treatment of various injuries, but the extent of their injuries was unknown.

Officials said that five people refused treatment at the scene of the crash.

Several people from the van fled the scene, according to a Moorpark CHP official.

No other information was immediately available.
