Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Aug. 1)

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — There's a little more marine layer Friday morning and that will translate into a slight cool down for the coastal communities and adjacent areas.

Otherwise look for another warm and muggy day here in the Southland. Valleys will pop into the upper 90s and 100s again Friday with mostly sunny skies.

By the afternoon some clouds will roll in associated with the monsoonal flow. There is a chance once again for afternoon thunderstorms. There were a couple Thursday in the desert and near Big Bear.

The thunderstorm chances will increase throughout the weekend. There will be more moisture moving into the area, and there will be some lift to trigger a storm.  The best chances for activity will start later on Saturday and stretch through Sunday into Sunday evening.

On Sunday it looks like the ingredients for thunderstorms or brief heavy showers moves into the LA Basin and even coastal areas. By next week things settle down again and we move back to the benign clouds in the morning and sunshine in the afternoon regime.
