Police Confirm Identity Of Man Captured After High-Speed Chase

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police have released the identity of the man at the center of a dangerous pursuit that occurred Wednesday from Chatsworth to Malibu.

KCAL9 has confirmed the man’s name as Sayed Hashemi.

Authorities say Hashemi tried to kidnap a woman from a fitness center parking lot July 30 but was stopped by an off-duty FBI agent who opened fire.

A LAPD spokesperson confirms LAPD, CHP and FBI officers discharged their weapons at Hashemi, who was wounded during the pursuit.

Authorities say Hashemi is now out of the hospital and is being held on $1 million bail.
