Man Fatally Struck By LAPD Cruiser

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An LAPD cruiser struck and killed a man while patrolling the West Adams area, authorities said Monday.

The accident happened just after 10:20 p.m. Sunday on West Adams Boulevard, near Buckingham Road, as the unit was responding to an unknown type of call, the LAPD said.

Police said they received a call about a naked man wandering on West Adams. When they arrived on scene, they couldn't find him, but when the cruiser left the area, the officers realized they ran over something.

The officers exited their vehicle and found the man in the roadway.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators do not believe the officers were speeding.

The crash was under investigation.
