One person was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Police ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash but said speeding might have been involved

"The Honda that was traveling eastbound, was struck in the front and driver's side, by the Maserati. So the Maserati, right before impact, for some reason, and we don't know why at this time, veered sharply to the left and into the eastbound lanes," said Sgt. Mark Guardado with the LAPD.

Officials could not yet say if the Maserati driver will face charges.

Police described the crash site as a dangerous stretch of road.
