53rd Annual Watermelon Festival Hits Arcadia This Weekend!

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) – The 53rd Annual Watermelon Festival hits Arcadia this weekend!

National Watermelon Queen, Brandi Harrison and Celebrity Chef Joseph Poon visited CBS Studio City this Friday to talk about the festival and show off some creative melon entertainment.

Highlights of the festival include: Hourly Watermelon Carving and Cooking Demonstration, Eating and Seed Spitting contests, Greased Watermelon Races, nightly prize draws, Wearable Art Contest, Food Court, Bazaar marketplace and Community Courtyard, to spotlight local organizations. And, the hotly anticipated Coronation of the local Watermelon King and Queen and their court! FREE Watermelon to all with admission.

Proceeds from the Watermelon Festival are used by the Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club help to support local youth and community activities, disaster relief, and to support health and vision conservation programs in California, across the nation and throughout the world.

The festivities will be held, July 19 and July 20 on the infield of Santa Anita Park, 285 West Huntington Drive, in Arcadia. Infield entrance and Gate #6 is located off Colorado Place.

Festival hours are Saturday from 10:00am to 9:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children, $8.00 for seniors and active military personnel, children under two are free. Parking is $4.00.
