GRANADA HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Police said a man who barricaded himself inside a Granada Hills home for more than five hours Thursday evening has surrendered without further incident.

The unidentified man reportedly stabbed someone outside his residence and then barricaded himself inside a home, believed to be his residence.

The condition of the stabbing victim was unclear.

Police also said the man with the knife was possibly holding a family member or members hostage.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, said the situation started around 5 p.m.

The incident occurred in the 17000 block of McKeever Street, authorities said.

SWAT was called to the scene.

Mundel said neighboring homes had been evacuated.
