Man, 21, Stabs Parents In Their Sleep In Garden Grove, Police Say

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old man Monday was in custody after stabbing his mother and father while they were sleeping, police said.

A 51-year-old woman contacted police about 5:49 a.m. from a trailer park at 10866 Westminster Ave. in Garden Grove, police said.

She told police she and her 56-year-old husband had escaped their residence after being stabbed in the upper torso by their son. Paramedics took them to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where they reported to be stable.

For a short time, the man, who was inside the residence, was not responding to police requests to come out, prompting surrounding residences to be evacuated, according to authorities.

"When the area was secure, officers forced entry into the trailer and took the son into custody without further incident," Garden Grove police said.

There were no outstanding suspects.
