This year's theme is "Summer Starts Here" and features familiar fair favorites such as pig races, carnival rides, acrobats, fair food and a sideshow-type exhibit, officials said.

Fairgoers can take advantage of free admission and parking during Opening Hour (July 11, Noon-1 p.m.).

The following promotions are also available on opening day through midnight:

  • Seniors Day: $6 admission for guests 60 and older, as well as free Ferris wheel and merry-go-round rides all day
  • $2 Taste of Fair Food: Sample Fair food from Noon-4 p.m. (every Friday)

The excitement will continue through the night with concerts and action sports. Huntington Beach-based punk rock band, the Offspring, kicks off the Toyota Summer Concert Series at the Pacific Amphitheatre at 7:45 p.m.

Other groups to rock the stage through Aug. 10 include The Go-Go's, Bad Religion, Little Big Town, Deep Purple, Rebelution and more.

All concert tickets purchased for shows at the Pacific Amphitheater also include admission to the fair. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 800-745-3000 or online at Ticketmaster.com.

The Orange County Transportation Authority is bringing back the OC Fair Express bus service with locations across the county for just $2 each way.

Buses will run hourly between approximately 2:30 p.m. and midnight on Fridays and 9:30 a.m. and midnight on Saturdays and Sundays. Half hour service will be provided at the Fullerton Park and Ride, Santa Ana Depot and Goldenwest Transportation Center.

Riders will also receive a coupon valid for $3 admission to the fair – a savings of $9 off the regular ticket price.
