ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Angels shortstop Erick Aybar will join teammate Mike Trout in the 2014 MLB All-Star game in Minnesota, the league announced Thursday.

Aybar, 30, will replace Royals outfielder Alex Gordon, who is ailing an injured wrist.

This will be Aybar’s first time making the Midsummer Classic in his nine-year career with the Angels.

In the 88 games he’s played so far this year, he is hitting 283/.318/.417 with 22 doubles, six home runs and 11 stolen bases.
