Woman Dies After Being Struck Multiple Times On 405 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 61-year-old woman was pronounced dead after being struck multiple times by vehicles on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Gardena, according to authorities.

The victim, who remains unidentified, pending notification of next of kin, was reportedly struck by two vehicles as she walked on the freeway's southbound lanes, just south of Normandie Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Officer K. Bush.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred at 8:50 p.m. on Friday, and the investigation is continuing.

Investigators are working to identify the woman, who appears to have been a transient, according to Lt. Joe Bale of the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
