LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — From unique fusion food to scrumptious desserts and arts, crafts and plenty of shopping and entertainment, the inaugural downtown LA night market seems a sizzling success.
More than 200 small businesses and entrepreneurs filled lot 7 near Staples Center for the Asian-inspired night market.
“It gives you pride about where you’re from, and seeing other people here is awesome,” said Delisa Acevedo of Long Beach.
The gathering is based on the night markets or bazaars popular throughout Asia.
Taiwanese-born Jonny Hwang started the night markets in the San Gabriel Valley.
“Downtown LA is a thriving, growing area. We thought be great to make it a more mainstream event,” Hwang said.
He says this is now the largest night market in North America.
