Detectives Investigating Possible Beating Death Of Man

BASSETT (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday were investigating the possible beating death of a man in Bassett.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department and sheriff's deputies received a medical call around 5:50 a.m. for a man injured in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 13900 block of Valley Boulevard.

When they arrived on scene, they pronounced the unidentified victim, who was said to be in his 40s or 50s, dead, sheriff's officials said.

"I didn't recognize him, but it looked like, you know, it was a really rough in there, whatever happened," nearby business owner Javier Adame said. "It looked like he got beat up. A lot of blood everywhere, so its pretty sad."
