Small Brush Fire Injures Man In Marina Del Rey

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com)  —   A small brush fire -- about three acres -- was reported Saturday afternoon along a large median in Marina del Rey.

The fire was reported just before 4 p.m. along the 13000 block of Mindanao Way, authorities said.

The fire, mostly involving grass, was smoky in nature.

Several streets and part of the 90 Freeway were closed while firefighters battled the blaze.

No structures were threatened.

Nearly 100 firefighters and two water-dropping helicopters were able to knock the dire down in about 67 minutes, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The wide median has a homeless encampment, Humphrey said.

One man was reportedly injured in the fire and taken to a hospital for possible treatment for smoke inhalation. The man is believed to be in fair condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

All lanes of the 90 Freeway were reopened by 8 p.m., authorities said.
