2 Girls Escape Suspected Child Predator In Malibu Civic Center

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Law enforcement are searching for a man who reportedly chased  two girls Friday in Malibu.

Deputies were called at 7:30 p.m. to the Malibu Civic Center, in the 3500 block of Cross Creek Road, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department reports.

The suspect allegedly jumped out of a dirty, black pickup truck and chased the girls for a short distance in the Civic Center.

The girls -- both 12 -- managed to escape by running into a nearby business.

Deputies searched the area for the suspect and his vehicle but were unable to find him.

The suspect is described as Latino, between 30 and 40 years old and 5 foot 7 inches tall. He was wearing a dark jacket, jeans and a baseball cap. He had a mole on the right side of his face.

Reporting from the scene of the alleged incident, KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo reported that officials are asking anyone with information about the suspect to call the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station at (818) 878-1808.
