Suspect Arrested For Assaulting Woman In Movie Theater Bathroom Stall

THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA.com) — An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in bathroom stall at a Ventura County movie theater.

Hector Garcia, of Moorpark, was arrested Tuesday afternoon for felony sexual battery by restraint and false imprisonment, according to the Sheriff's Office.

On the night of May 23, a woman said she was in a bathroom stall at the Muvico Theater in Thousand Oaks when "an unidentified man slid underneath the partition and sexually battered her," Cpt. Mike Hartman said.

After a brief struggle, the 23-year-old victim was able to exit the stall and the suspect fled from the theater.

Investigators partnered with local media, including Spanish-speaking outlets, to generate leads and later identified Garcia as a suspect.

He is being held on $250,000 bail.
