LAPD: 2 Men Intentionally Run Over In Food 4 Less Parking Lot

EL SERENO (CBSLA.com) — Two people were hospitalized Monday after they were intentionally run over in a supermarket parking lot, police said.

The incident began around 11 p.m. Sunday at a Food 4 Less store in the 4900 block of S. Huntington Drive in El Sereno.

A security guard saw a group of five men arguing with two others inside the store and asked the suspects to leave.

Detectives say they then waited in their silver Honda Accord with their headlights off for the group to exit the market.

Authorities believe the suspects rammed their car into the group and then fled the scene.

Arturo Perez broke his clavicle and another man suffered a skull laceration, officials said.

"I'm lucky that my son is alive," Perez's father Jose said. "That's all I can say — I am a lucky dad."

The 23-year-old and the other unidentified man are expected to survive their injuries.

"He's just in a lot of pain right now," Yvette Talavera, Perez's mom, said. "They're observing him to make sure his vital signs are good before releasing him."

Detectives were interviewing witnesses and reviewing store security video hoping to identify the suspects and determine what triggered the initial argument.

"I hope they don't get away with this. I hope they really find who did this," Talavera said.

No arrests have been made.
