LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A downtown Los Angeles eatery has combined fried chicken with…chocolate?!
KCAL9’s Brittney Hopper reports that ChocoChicken hasn’t even opened yet, but it’s already garnering a lot of buzz.
“I can’t tell you what’s in the recipe, but there is chocolate in parts of the recipe,” co-founder Keith Previte said.
Hopper said there are more than 20 different ingredients in the dry rub of the chicken alone.
“It takes fried chicken to a whole new level,” Previte said.
Mashed potatoes with chocolate chive butter, chocolate ketchup and a chocolate martini are also on the menu.
Along with Previte, the masterminds behind ChocoChicken are well-known restaurateurs Adam Fleischman, Sean Robins and Lee Weinberg.
“We try to push boundaries on some of the culinary aspects and do things that people haven’t done before,” Previte said.
The restaurant is expected to open within the next couple of weeks.
