According to police, an unknown man entered the home while the woman was asleep on the couch.

“The victim reported she woke up after feeling a sharp pain and observed the suspect flee from the residence on foot,” Det. Jeff Fisher said.

Officers searched the area around the home, but were unable to locate the suspect.

“After examining the evidence at the scene and after additional investigative leads were pursued, an adult male suspect was located and arrested for the attack,” Det. Fisher said.

The suspect’s identity was not released, but he was booked on attempted murder and residential burglary charges.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact Detective Jeff Fisher at the Temecula Police Department at (951) 696-3000.
