Ovarian Cancer Research Fund's 'Super Saturday' Sale To Be Held May 17

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Dr. Sheryl Ross visited KCAL9 Wednesday to discuss the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund's Super Saturday 2014.

The day-long fundraising event for the entire family takes place May 17 and will be hosted by Rachel Zoe and Molly Sims.

The designer garage sale will offer discounts on brands such as Versace, Rachel Zoe and Kate Spade, etc., with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting OCRF.

It will be held at the Barker Hangar (3021 Airport Ave. #203) in Santa Monica.

Ross also shared her five tips for preventing ovarian cancer:

1. Know if you are at risk.

There are several factors such as age, genetics, etc., that you should make your doctor aware of as they increase your risks and can lead to additional screening compared to the average person.

2. If you have certain pains longer than usual, you should see a doctor.

Some symptoms can include back pain, bloating, frequent urination, etc.

 3. Know how deadly this cancer can be.

Ovarian cancer can be hard to detect. It's the second gynecological cause of death after breast cancer.

 4. Your diet is key.

What you eat is important for prevention.

5. Activity.

A healthy lifestyle important even if you have not been healthy your whole life.
