RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say an investigation was underway into the stabbing death of a man in Riverside.

Riverside police Sgt. Dan Russell said in a written statement that officers were sent to the 3600 block of University on Saturday evening around 11:50 p.m. following a report of a “subject down.”

Upon arriving on scene, officers found the victim suffering of a stab wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The statement described the suspect as a bald Hispanic man with a muscular build. He is believed to be in his 20s or 30s.

The statement also indicated that it appeared the unidentified victim was stabbed for “no apparent reason.”

The statement said that it appeared the suspect walked away, but it’s unclear whether he got into a vehicle.

Anyone with more information about this case was asked to call Detective Rick Cobb at (951) 353-7135 or Detective Mike Medici at (951) 353-7104.
