Woman Found Dead Near Railroad Tracks In Riverside 'Victim Of Foul Play'

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A 32-year-old woman whose remains were found near railroad tracks in Riverside over the weekend was the victim of foul play, police said Thursday.

The decomposed body of Jamie Lea Harmer, 32, was discovered Sunday along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks.

Authorities said there was no evidence the victim was struck by a train.

"A cause of death has not yet been determined, but it is believed that Harmer was the victim of foul play," Riverside police Sgt. David Amador said. "Detectives are trying to determine where the victim was and who she came into contact with."

The victim was apparently a transient who last lived in Thief River Falls, Minn. She left there last November, however, and was headed to San Diego County.

"It is believed she was in the Ramona area on Feb. 26 and was planning to travel to Arizona to visit family around that time," Amador said. "Her whereabouts after that date are not known."

Amador said Harmer was arrested two times earlier this year. The first time she allegedly hit an officer in San Diego who was attempting to detain her for being under the influence of drugs, and the second time she was reportedly under the influence.
