New Hollywood Sign Shuttle To Start Operating Saturday

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Councilman Tom LaBonge Wednesday launched a three-month Hollywood sign shuttle program aimed at easing traffic in the area.

KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports the Department of Recreation and Parks and the Griffith Observatory will offer shuttle services for $7 to a lofty viewing area of the landmark and the Observatory.

The 21-passenger shuttle will be offered every Saturday and Sunday, beginning on May 3 through the end of July.

LaBonge hopes the shuttle will alleviate the "high volume of vehicle traffic in both the Hollywood Hills and Beachwood Canyon residential areas."

Shuttles will pick up riders from the Greek Theater parking lot.

Tickets, which include free admission to the Observatory, can only be purchased online at www.laparks.org.

Children 2 years of age and under can ride for free when riding on the lap of an adult.
