ET: George Clooney, America's Favorite Bachelor, Is Engaged

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  — "Entertainment Tonight" is reporting that George Clooney -- long-time bachelor and named one of PEOPLE Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive," is engaged.

The TV show reported "a reliable source" close to the actor confirmed the news.

Clooney, 52, recently proposed to his 36-year-old girlfriend, lawyer Amal Alamuddin.

"ET" said that Clooney and Alamuddin were spotted having dinner with friend Cindy Crawford on Thursday evening and that Alamuddin was showing off an engagement ring.

Clooney and Alamuddin began dating in October 2013.

After divorcing actress Talia Balsam in 1993, Clooney was quoted about a half a million times that he would "never" marry again.

Clooney was linked over the decades to a variety of actresses, among them Kelly Preston, Renee Zellwegger, Krista Allen, Elisabetta Canalis and Stacey Keibler.

Clooney and Keibler started dating in the summer of 2011 and broke up in July 2013. Keibler rebounded quickly -- she started dating Future Ads CEO Jared Pobre several months later and married last month. She also announced she was pregnant with the couple's first child.

For months, people close to Clooney have intimated that he had a special bond with Alamuddin over social causes and humanitarian issues.
