Oxnard High School Teacher, 41, Accused Of Child Annoyance

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities say they have arrested a 41-year-old high school teacher for misdemeanor child annoyance.

Jorge Arellano, an Oxnard resident, was arrested Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. at his home, officials said.

Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department's Family Protection Unit made the arrest.

The police said they began investigating Arellano in October of 2013 after receiving a tip about the teacher involved with alleged misconduct with a student at Oxnard High School.

Arellano was employed as a teacher with the Oxnard Union High School District at the time of the alleged incident.

Police did not say if he was still employed in the district.

Detectives asked anyone with information about the alleged incident to call the Oxnard Police Department at (805) 385-7605 or Detective Erica Escalante at (805) 385-7661. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
