Brush Fire Along 405 Freeway Snarls Traffic In El Segundo

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — A brush fire that ignited Wednesday afternoon along the 405 Freeway, backing up rush-hour traffic, may have been started by a bus fire, officials reported.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department snuffed the three-to-five-acre grass fire alongside the freeway, near the Manchester Boulevard exit and the 105 Freeway interchange.

Smoke reportedly affected rush-hour traffic on the 405 but didn't impact flights at nearby Los Angeles International Airport.

The transition road from the northbound 405 to the westbound 105 was temporarily closed until firefighters got the blaze under control, according to California Highway Patrol.
