Male Pedestrian Killed By Car In Oxnard

OXNARD (CBSLA.com)  — A male pedestrian died Saturday afternoon in Oxnard following an early-morning accident in which he was struck.

Officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel were called to the intersection of Seventh Street and 'F' Street in reference to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian around 5:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a black Honda, driven by 62-year-old Hector Delgadillo, was traveling westbound on Seventh Street as the pedestrian was crossing the roadway near 'F'. The Honda struck the unidentified pedestrian causing him to be thrown several feet and land in the roadway.

The pedestrian was transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for his injuries. The victim died sometime Saturday afternoon.

The driver was uninjured.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.
