Lake Elsinore Man, 59, Dies 3 Days After Beating Inside His Home
LAKE ELSINORE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a 59-year-old Lake Elsinore man has died three days after being attacked inside his home.
Deputies said that a probationer with a long rap sheet and history of violence is accused of the beating murder.
Joseph Madrigal died Thursday night of head injuries at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office said.
Madrigal was found severely beaten at a home in the 28000 block of Red Gum Drive on Monday afternoon.
Deputies responding to an assault report found the mortally-injured man and a suspect, Andy Dean Abegg, 32.
Officials said Abegg was waiting for the law officers, according to the arrest report. Abegg was booked for suspicion of attempted murder, according to Riverside County sheriff’s deputies.
A motive for the attack was not disclosed.
Abegg pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on one count of attempted murder last week. He remained in custody today in lieu of more than a $1 million bail, jail records showed.
In February 2013, Abegg was sentenced to three years probation for violating a domestic violence-related restraining order. He also has other misdemeanor convictions for obstructing a peace officer and battery, court records read.
