Coachella Festival Concertgoer Dies Days After Collapsing

INDIO (CBSLA.com/AP) — Authorities are trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol caused the death of a woman who collapsed last weekend at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Southern California.

The Riverside County coroner's office says 24-year-old Kimchi Truong of Oakland was at the festival in Indio on Saturday when she collapsed. She died at a hospital on Thursday.

The cause of death wasn't clear pending an autopsy and toxicology tests, KNX 1070′s Megan Goldsby reported.

"This is a desert. On occasion, we do have heat-related incidences and we work with our fire department and also there has been incidences where they're alcohol or drug-related," an Indio
Police Department officer told Goldsby.

However, coroner's Sgt. Curt James tells the Desert Sun of Palm Springs that investigators haven't ruled out a drug overdose.

Concert promoter Goldenvoice issued a statement saying the festival attendee suffered "an apparent overdose."
