SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — California Highway Patrol officers took a suspect into custody following a pursuit that spanned from Orange County to Simi Valley Saturday evening.

Simi Valley resident William Smalling, 43, refused to pull over after Huntington Beach police attempted to initiate a traffic stop for a minor infraction at approximately 9:30 p.m., according to CHP.

SKY9 was overhead as the vehicle traveled just over 55 mph on the northbound 405 through Van Nuys and the North Hills at approximately 10 p.m.

Smalling traveled onto the westbound 118 Freeway just before 10:10 p.m., and continued onto surface streets in Simi Valley.

The pursuit ended two hours later after the CHP put down spike strips. The suspect pulled into a supermarket parking lot and surrendered.
