Start 'The Doctor's Diet' With Travis Stork's New Book

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) – Dr. Travis Stork visited KCAL9 Wednesday to discuss his New York Times bestselling book, The Doctor's Diet.

Stork is an emergency room physician and host of the Emmy-winning show, The Doctors.

The book is a compilation of recipes and lifestyle habits Stork uses in his daily life. It will also be featured on Friday's episode of the show, which airs at 11 a.m. on KCAL9.

Some of Stork's plans include:

Step 1 - STAT Plan

A 14-day jump-start that includes breakfasts, lunches, dinner and snacks designed according to specifically formulated daily Meal Plan Equations created to help jump-start weight loss. Moderately high in protein, smart amounts of unsaturated fat and omega-3 fats, rich in dietary fiber and low in simple carbohydrates and unhealthy fats.

Step 2 - 14-day RESTORE Plan

Designed to keep the pounds coming off while adding more flexibility and choices to the Equations. Expands fruit, whole grain, protein, and healthy fat choices and portions.  The goal is to allow one to lose weight by eating reasonable amounts of tasty yet the healthiest of foods.

Step 3 - MAINTAIN Plan

How Dr. Travis lives his life!  He enjoys meals because they taste good and contribute to his overall health. A culmination of all the great advice, tips, approaches and information learned so far but builds in extra freedom and flexibility that allows one to tailor the plan completely to personal tastes.

Some of the highlights of healthy eating and weight loss include:

-          Body chemistry and physical changes

-          Blood sugar changes that could save your life

-          Changes in chronic inflammation

-          More satisfying sleep

-          Lower risk of cancer
