Missing Simi Valley Man, 60, Fatally Struck By Train In Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com) — A 60-year-0ld Simi Valley man reported missing Friday was fatally struck by a train in Chatsworth, authorities said.

Richard Haminger was declared a "critical missing" person Friday.

Haminger was reportedly struck by a train on tracks near Topanga Canyon Road and the Santa Susana Pass Road Friday morning.

Overnight, personnel from the Simi Valley Police Department learned the LAPD and LA County Coroner's Office were investigating a pedestrian vs.  train accident involving someone who matched Haminger's description.

Officials matched the victim to Haminger by description, age and "distinctive clothing," said the Coroner's Office.

His next of kin has been notified.

Haminger's death is being investigated by the LAPD's Valley Traffic Discison and Coroner.
