Couple Found Dead In Their Highland Home Were Murdered

HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in San Bernardino County said a Highland couple found dead in their home Wednesday were murder victims.

Susan Youn Wun, 49, and Robert Toshiharu Suzuki, 63, lived in a home in the 28000 block of Saffron Avenue.

Autopsies on both victims concluded each was murdered. Deputies responded to the home Wednesday around 6 p.m. for a welfare check after a neighbor said she hadn't seen Wun for several days and was concerned.

Officials did not release the cause of death pending the investigation.

Authorities said the couple (unmarried but involved romantically) was killed in their home on, or about, Friday, March 21.

Wun's 2000 Silver Mercedes SUV was stolen at the time of the murder and recovered on Thursday, April 3, 2014, near Post St. and Brockton Ave. in Redlands -- about five miles away from her home. The vehicle was taken to the Sheriff's Crime Lab and will be processed for evidence.

KCAL9's Crystal Cruz reported from outside the couple's home Friday evening where the neighborhood had set up a makeshift memorial complete with numerous flowers and candles.

Neighbors told Cruz Wun was "a sweet lady" and they had no idea who would want to kill her.

"She was so sweet," says Peter Michas. "Quiet, peaceful, jovial. So friendly. She was just a wonderful human being."

Friday afternoon, a dozen or so neighbors held hands outside the couple's home and prayed.

Officials did not say if they have a suspect in mind.

Cruz spoke to Wun's ex-husband by phone and he described this as a very emotional time for her family.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call Homicide Detective Eddie Bachman at (909) 387-3589.
