SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Orange County police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a couple who had lived together for the past 25 years.

A family member called police around 6 p.m. Wednesday to 2110 E. Wellington Road.

Officers found 78-year-old Freda Bryson and 71-year-old Michael Worden in a bedroom with gunshot wounds, according to Santa Ana police.

Orange County Fire Authority and paramedics pronounced the couple dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives believe the incident was a murder-suicide but have yet to determine the motive. They found an apparent suicide note and the weapon believed used in the couple’s death.

Bryson and Worden were not married.
