40K Free Condoms Will Be Available To 1,700 Students At Whittier College

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) – More than a dozen condom machines are being installed in residence halls on the campus of Whittier College this week.

The 15 contraceptive dispensers being placed in dorms will give the school's roughly 1,700 students access to more than 40,000 free condoms. In fact, there will be several machines installed in each of the school's dormitories.

The Whittier College Quaker Campus reports junior Bobbi-Marie Mendoza was inspired to promote public health among students after she completed an internship with the Whittier Rio Hondo AIDS Project.

Mendoza then reached out to Los-Angeles based AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which describes itself as "the largest supplier of HIV/AIDS medical care in the United States." The foundation donated all of the machines, as well as the condoms, which will constantly be restocked.

Whittier College is a private, four-year liberal arts school with famous alumni including President Richard Nixon.
