Residents Still Cleaning Up 3 Days After 5.1-Magnitude Quake

FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — Three days after a 5.1-magnitude quake hit the Southland, residents are still cleaning up.

KCAL9's Michele Gile reports that dozens of people in the La Habra and Fullerton areas are still out of their homes due to damage caused by the Friday night temblor, which was felt in at least seven different counties.

Fullerton resident Manuel Davalos and his wife showed Gile the damage around their home.

"Right here in the corner, the drywall popped out. I've got cracks throughout the house," Davalos said.

Davalos said the family is so afraid of another big earthquake, they've taken everything off of the walls and placed valuables on the floor.

"[It feels like we're coming to an empty house] because we've had to make it that way because we're afraid we're gonna have another strong aftershock and things are going to tumble," he said.

The estimated monetary damage related to the quake has not been released.
