Pet Pig Captured After Running Wild Near Downtown Santa Monica
SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — A domesticated pig was back with its owner Friday after it was found frolicking around downtown Santa Monica.
Santa Monica police and park rangers responded Wednesday afternoon to a call for a pig, about as big as medium-sized dog, on the loose near downtown.
They located the pig, named Sophie, around 4 p.m. in an alley east of 10th Street.
"After a short foot pursuit, the pig was taken into custody without incident and safely transported to the Santa Monica Animal Shelter," authorities said.
The pig's owner, a Los Angeles resident, was located Thursday and said Sophie was "visiting a friend's house when she escaped."
