Suspect Accused Of Hitting Woman With Car After He's Asked To Leave Party

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Police in Pomona have announced the arrest of a man they say hit a woman with a car after he was asked to leave a party.

Pomona Police responded to a disturbance call in the 400 Block of E. Phillips Ave. around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Investigation learned that during a party at a residence a verbal argument occurred. The suspect was asked to leave the gathering.

Officials said the suspect (now identified only as an adult male Asian) left the party. However, he began to race his black Honda back and forth on E. Phillips Ave to the front of the party.

The victim and some friends went outside and got into another verbal argument with the suspect. That altercation turned physical.

During the physical altercation the suspect allegedly drove his vehicle into the victim. Police said the suspect then traveled approx. a quarter mile east with the victim hanging on his hood and windshield. The victim fell off the vehicle at E. Phillips Ave and Towne Ave.

The suspect then put the victim in his vehicle and fled the area.

Arriving police saw the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed east bound on Phillips Ave. A traffic stop was made at S. Reservoir and Franklin Ave. The suspect was taken into custody and the victim was air lifted to USC Medical Center.

The suspect has been booked for assault with a deadly weapon and a felony DUI.

The victim (only identified as a Latina)  sustained a large laceration to her head and multiple abrasions. She was admitted and is in stable condition.

Both the victim and suspect are residents of Riverside.
