Twitter Exec Hints Company Will Do Away With 'At' Replies, Hashtags

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – Twitter users may soon notice some significant changes on the social media platform.

The company's head of news, Vivian Schiller, says "@" replies and hashtags are "arcane" and may soon move into the background.

Tech analysts hypothesize the replies will be replaced with users' actual names instead of their handles.

There is no indication of how or when Twitter plans to implement the changes.
