Woman Whose Body Was Found At Recycling Plant Victim Of Homicide, Authorities Say

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — The 21-year-old woman whose body was found last week at an Anaheim recycling plant was the victim of a homicide, authorities said.

“Obviously foul play is a part of it, but for the integrity of the investigation we’re not going to release the manner of how she was killed,” Anaheim police Lt. Tim Schmidt said.

Jarrae Nykkole Estepp was found at about 10:30 a.m. Friday at Republic Waste Services on N. Blue Gum Street.

The victim was nude and pulled from debris that was being sorted on a conveyer belt.

Police have since been passing out fliers to businesses and motels where they believe the victim was spotted before her death.

“We know she was seen on March 13 and the early hours of the 14th here in West Anaheim,” Schmidt said. “We are hoping someone will recognize her and maybe recognize someone she was with.”

Authorities said Estepp arrived in the area six days ago from Oklahoma City to work as a prostitute on Beach Boulevard.

Meantime, investigators are trying to find out if Estepp’s death is connected to the disappearance of four Santa Ana women, who had histories of substance abuse or arrests for prostitution, Schmidt said.

“We’ve been in contact with other law enforcement agencies that have had similar people missing or prostitutes found dead in their city,” Schmidt said. “We’re not ready to say they’re connected, but we are talking to other (law enforcement) agencies.”
