LAKE LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Five people were in the hospital Tuesday morning following an accident involving two vehicles and a truck carrying carrots.

The crash took place around 9:30 p.m. Monday on 170th Street East in Lake Los Angeles, officials said.

At least five people were transported to a local hospital, including two who had to be airlifted.

Thousands of carrots covered the road after the big rig overturned. A couple, who was in one of the vehicles involved in the collision, got stuck in a four feet deep pile of the vegetables.

It was unclear what caused the accident.
