Crash Involving LAPD Cruiser Injures 7 In Glassell Park

GLASSELL PARK (CBSLA.com) — A traffic collision Monday between an LAPD patrol car and another vehicle injured seven people, including four officers.

The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of N. Fletcher Drive is Glassell Park, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

According to police, four officers were responding to a backup call in an unmarked sedan when they were involved in a crash with a SUV.

"They were responding, initially we believe, with lights and sirens as they drove through the red light here, the collision occurred," Lt. Andrew Smith said.

Two officers suffered minor injuries, while two others were listed in serious condition. All are expected to recover.

The three passengers in the SUV suffered minor injuries.

The intersection of N. Fletcher Drive and San Fernando Road was expected to be closed for several hours as the accident was investigated.
